Persona

A quote from an article in the Nytimes about Lady Gaga at Lollapalooza really resonates with me. The quote is, "It’s been said before that Lady Gaga’s greatest work of art is her own persona, and that has only increased with the progress of her pop conquest". The quote resonates with me because of the word, PERSONA.

What is persona? do we each only have one persona? or do we have multiple personas? According to the Webster Dictionary, Persona is "the aspect of someone's character that is presented to or perceived by others: his/her public persona. In psychology, often contrasted with anima.
I am interested in persona, and how people present themselves to each other in different situations. You might be saying, "who fucking cares, you just described facebook", but okay, yeah, I did just describe facebook. Think about it, facebook is, besides from being a celebrity, the ultimate persona exchange. You can't necessarily be who ever you want to be, but you can represent yourself how you want people to percieve you.

Can persona be captured in visual 2d form? is the true persona captured or is the persona for the camera, image maker what is captured in a 2d image?

Celebrities are fascinating to me because they are walking breathing, eating personas that we get to watch be themselves. Persona at the MAX!
