I am vegan!I have been trying to be vegan since I was 15 years old. The only person really getting in my way was me. When I first started to be vegetarian it waas difficult convincing my family that what I was doing was healthy. They all worried about my health. "Will you get enough protein?" was the most commonly asked question.
Being vegan has proved nothing but to be healthy. And Yes, I get enough protein.
I feel so much better NOT EATTING MEAT.
I feel that when I eat meat the flesh just sits in my body, rotting.
When I got out of highschool and moved out I claimed VEGANISM! Living on my own I could truely be my self. I was really strict about being vegan for a few years then I became flexiable at somepoint. Almost indifferent to my diet.
Thus, the slippery slop began... for instance, if I was at someone's house and they offered me something with meat in it I would politly consume the meal with no questions asked.
Except for; Why aren't you being true to yourself?
I wasn't. I was not being true to myself. I know deep down that I am a vegan. The idea of meat disgusts me and the way we have created animal farms as factories appals me.
Our society is very disconnected to our food and where it comes from. People must think it just falls out of the sky! No one ever asks where there hamburger came from or how many cows were slaughtered for that one big juicy chunk of bloody flesh.
Paul Mc Carthy of the Beatles said, "If slaughter houses were made of glass, the world would be vegetarian".
